Michael was born in Meriden and educated at Thornleigh Salesian College from where he had fond memories of his school days. He was the middle child and has two sisters Penny and Theresa. He was very proud of his family and talked a lot about his mother Madge and father Jack and was inspired by his fathers' work at Clay Cross foundry and his musical skills on the piano and organ.

He married Hilary in 1969 and they had 3 children, Jonathan, Stephen & Susanne. He was very proud of their individual achievements. Susanne with her dancing, Stephen, playing the organ and Jonathan who inherited his father's mechanical skills and technical know-how. There were many happy holidays, lots in Salcombe, Devon, and also some great house parties.

He always worked very hard to provide for his family and strived to be the best. He gave them a good quality of life, with so many amazing experiences and opportunities.

His love of the sea began many years ago, and he was always very happy cruising-in-company on his boat. He was often part of the safety-boat fleet for offshore powerboat races, and especially enjoyed swapping stories in the bar afterwards. He could never be near water without wishing he was on a boat.

There are three grandchildren, Jessica, William and Harrison, whom he loved very much and was extremely proud of.

He met Lydia in Prague and they married in 2004 and enjoyed many good times travelling and seeing the sights of Great Britain and Europe.

He showed great courage, especially in the last days of his life. He tried so hard to fight his illness for 2 years but in the end he wanted peace. Lydia, Jonathan, Stephen and Susanne were there in his last hours where he continued to show his courage and bravery. He went peacefully and they were able to say goodbye.

"We love you and will miss you very much, Dad. You always taught us to be positive and look for solutions to problems and we will always remember this.

Thank you Dad for being you..."
