SHIRLEY LENIGHAN [nee BOYES]

SHIRLEY WAS ALWAYS PROUD OF HER WHITBY ROOTS, THE SEASIDE TOWN WHERE SHE WAS BORN AND BROUGHT UP.
SHIRLEY WAS THE DAUGHTER OF TOM & SARAH ANN [SALLY] BOYES & SISTER TO YOUNGER BROTHER DAVID. SHE HAD A HAPPY CHILDHOOD IN THE CLOSE COMMUNITY, SPENDING LOTS OF TIME AT GRANDAD STEPHENSONS WHITBY HOUSE 'SUNNYSIDE' . SHIRLEY SPENT ENJOYABLE TIMES WITH HER CLOSE FAMILY, ESPECIALLY HER AUNTY MARGARET [WELFORD, Nee STEPHENSON] & COUSIN JEAN[SLEIGHTHOLME, nee FREEMAN] & HER LIFELONG FRIENDS DORIS & BETTY VENTRESS. SHIRLEY WAS ALSO A MEMBER OF THE 'FRIENDSHIP' ROWING TEAM IN WHITBY & LIKE ALL WHITBY FOLK, SHE LOOKED FORWARD EVERY YEAR TO THE REGATTA.
SHIRLEY WILL BE SADLY MISSED BY ALL HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS, WHO WILL REMEMBER HER AS A STRONG, LOYAL, COURSGEOUS & COMPASSIONATE WOMAN, WTIH A 'LOVRE OF LIFE'.
