The RNLI saves lives at sea.

My father, T. K. Venketeswaran, was killed in the terrorist bombing of Air India Flight 182, that went down off the coast of southwestern Ireland on June 23, 1985, killing all 329 aboard.

The RAF and Irish Coast Guard worked bravely and tirelessly for many days following the tragedy to haul up the broken bodies of our loved ones, and ferry them to the Cork General Hospital, Cork, Ireland.

My Dad's body was never recovered, but I am grateful to the men - the Captains, the winchmen, Coast Guard and Crew, whose minds are now indelibly imprinted with horrific memories from that terrible time on North Atlantic.
