Peter John Ashby Born 5/4/1928 Died 29/6/2011.
Peter grew up in Brixton in London with his brother Dennis and sisters Pat and Betty. He moved to Crawley West Sussex in the early 1950's with Elsie where he worked as a toolmaker for Langleys and then Mallory Batteries. He moved to Brighton in the 1980's.
He leaves his daughters Lynne and Jeannette and son Dougal and 5 grandsons.

As a young man he was a keen cyclist and motorcyclist and then owned a Morgan three wheeler before family responsibilities forced him to sell it.

He loved anything mechanical, particularly steam trains and was very practical and taught his children to be the same.

He was always a gentleman and would offer his seat, or open a door and would always stand when a woman entered the room. He always cared a lot about others, supporting several charities and after his retirement did various voluntary work including meals on wheels until he was no longer able to get around well enough.

He had a good sense of humour and loved to embarrass his children.
He was always very stubborn and if anyone tried to persuade him otherwise he would dig in his heels all the more.

He was a lovely man, a true gentleman and we will miss him very much.
