The RNLI saves lives at sea.

Patrick Edge

Also known as: Paddy or Pat.

Picture of Patrick Edge.

Paddy was a greatly loved Husband, Father and Grandad who will be sorely missed. Being outside with nature was Paddy's biggest passion, the sea and the RNLI held a particular soft spot in his heart. He never went anywhere with his Lifeboat cap, adorning with badges from Lifeboat shops from around the coast.
From his youth in the navy towns of Medway, he joined the Merchant Navy and worked with Pearl and Dean, steaming out of Dundee on the Coasters around Britain and the North Sea.
He had is own boat moored in Margate Harbour which he spent numerous enjoyable hours on; as a keen fisherman and dynamic part of harbour life. He was also volunteer at the Margate Lifeboat Shop for many years along with his wife, Iris and often with the help of their grandchildren in the holidays!
Coming a full circle, Paddy moved back to Gillingham, where the river and surrounding countryside became his stomping ground once more.
