The RNLI saves lives at sea.

Mary Griffiths

Picture of Mary Griffiths.

Mum was a strong force full woman, often hard to live with but always there if you needed her.
Her young life was not easy, spending a large part of her childhood in and out of hospital. this did not stop her living a full life and living to the age of 89yrs, the last 28 of them as a widow. No wilting flower she took herself of on an half world cruise, and visited relatives in New Zealand before returning to the UK.
Interestingly in doing our family tree I found we were related to John Bird and his sons who were lost at sea in Dec 1810, they were RNLI crew who died going to the aid of the ship Traveller. Sadly mum never knew this, but I am sure she would have been very proud to know she was supporting the organisation that we have a long tradition in being involved with.
