Joan Muriel Hitchens-Sheppard

Born in Bombay, India, Joan was a daughter of the late Alfred and Dorothy
(née McIntosh) Turner. She passed away in Meaford, Ontario, Canada on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at the age of 81.

Joan was predeceased by her husband Richard “Dick” Hitchens in 1991 and by her husband Royston ‘Roy’ Sheppard in 2006.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children Catherine ‘Cathy’ and her husband Robert Roskrow of Bognor, Ontario, Christopher Hitchens of Cornwall, England, Elizabeth Hitchens (daughter-in-law) of Scotland and by her step-son Ian Sheppard of Devon, England.

Joan will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Nicky Crawford of Truro, Lindsey Tibble (Glen) of Droitwich, England and their children Bethany, Max, Dominic, Harry, Isobel and Daisy, Abigail Hitchens (Robert Wharry) of Wasaga Beach, Ontario and Rebecca Hitchens (Ryan Bierma) of Barrie, Ontario.

Predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Hussey, of Bishop, California. Loved sister-in-law of Ida May Hitchens and Gloria Hitchens and fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews and their families.

Joan was a staunch supporter of the RNLI during the years she lived in Cadgwith, Cornwall prior to her emigration to Canada.
