We are donating in memory of our cousin, Vice Admiral Thomas Reece Sargent III, United States Coast Guard (Ret), Honorary Life Governor of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. He was born in Evertree Road, Woolwich, London on 20 December 1914 and died in Lake San Marcos, near San Diego, California on 29 May 2010. Tom emigrated to the USA with his parents and sister in 1923 and pursued a long and distinguished career in the US Coast Guard. As he said to us "....not bad for a poor immigrant....!"

He was a delightful person, a great family man and US patriot, and had an enduring affection for the country of his birth. It was our great privilege to have known him and we have many happy memories of our times together.

With love
