In memory of my Dad,Derek John Lodge

June 1st 1939-March 15th 1999

Every year I remember my dads birthday with flowers and have always wanted to do something worthwhile. My dad served in the Royal Navy for 12 years and always supported the R.N.L.I. When I saw the memorials on your site I thought perfect.
My dad died 59 years old, very suddenly,it was a huge shock to us all.
I have always thought of myself as a "daddys girl" and have loving memories of that special bond between father and daughter.
My mum and dad had been married for 39 years before he died,I think my brother and sister would say we all had a lovely childhood, mum and dad always did their best.
I had no trouble choosing a photo of dad as I have lots of my boys Joe and Max having great times with their Grandad. Right from a early age Joe went everywhere with dad, then when Max cams along he went too.The boys often talk about their adventures on days out and weekends away, their eyes would light up when he appeared.
His grandchildren were everything to him.I know he would be very proud of them today and feel he looks down on them often.

I have a photo of my dad i carry with me everyday, talking to him about things in our lives, the ups and downs, feeling he is with me always.
There is so much I would say to you dad if you were here today,I love you Dad,always and forever,
your daughter Shirley xxxx
