Lanceley Kenneth John, 26th October 2009 passed peacefully at
The Countess of Chester Hospital aged 87 years, late of Mainwaring Drive Saltney Ferry dearly loved husband of the late Rene, dear father to Elaine and father in law to Robin, and loving grandad to his grandchildren Claire, Lisa and Richard and great grandchildren Jade, Demi, Gary, Lee, Chloe and Callum.

Ken left school at thirteen and worked in several of the local shops, before joining the Great Western Railway for whom he worked during the war years as a fireman from where he got his love of steam trains. Being a Hanbridge man he also loved salmon fishing on the River Dee he started off as second man on a boat eventually getting his own boat and licence which he did for most of his life.
Upon leaving the railway he worked the steelworks in Shotton until he took early retirement at 58 years old, he then got a job which indulged another great passion of his, horse racing at Chester Race course where he worked until he was 77 years old
Which later on he could only enjoy on the television and watch out anyone who disturbed his viewing on Saturday’s
