The RNLI saves lives at sea.

Henry Strachan

Henry's father was a crew member on the Peterhead lifeboat and Henry was very proud of this. Henry grew up in the fishing community of Peterhead and never forgot his roots. He loved the sea and spent some time working on a fishing boat and would relate to his children and grandchildren how tough and difficult a job that was. Although he moved away from Peterhead and settled in Dunoon Henry, his wife Mary and their children returned there many times over the years to enjoy happy family holidays.

During his life Henry turned his hand to many jobs to earn a living and support his family including labourer on the building of the damn at Loch Tarsan, coalman, taxi driver and the job he is likely most remembered for, a Funeral Director, a job that he carried out with dignity and professionalism over the years and which earned him the respect of the community.

Henry was a family man and was proud of any achievement s made by his children and grandchildren no matter how big or small. He always had words of encouragement, advice and support along with words of comfort if things did not work out. Henry and Mary loved each other dearly and they enjoyed 59 happy and eventful years together.

Henry will be sadly missed by his wife Mary, his children Sandra, Douglas and Stuart, his Grandchildren Laura, Emma, Graham, Jordan, Andrew, Daniel and Kyran and by his many great grandchildren. Henry your family will keep the memory of you in their hearts always.
