les spent the 2nd world war years in the Royal Navy, during which time his ship was torpedoe'd twice. and he was recognised for his bravery in saving lives of his fellow shipmates.

After the war he was again praised for his bravery when jumping into a canal to save a life.
He was a very caring person putting others before himself.
He was a loving Brother, Uncle, and Great Uncle, and a friend to all he knew.
He will be greatly missed.
