The RNLI saves lives at sea.

Jack Tweedale

Picture of Jack Tweedale.

My Dad, Jack Tweedale, was born in Rochdale in 1915 and died on 2 May 1995. He was the third son of Herbert and Elizabeth Tweedale and grew up in Syke. He married Edith Laura Taylor and had two children, Shirley and John.

Dad was an engineer who worked building planes in the war at Trafford Park, Manchester. His job also required him to travel a lot and he worked in London, Kent, Scotland and all around Lancashire.

In 1948 he went to India for two years with a group of colleagues that included Frank Bridge. They assembled a textile mill for Dobson & Barlow of Radcliffe.
