The RNLI saves lives at sea.

Patrick was a lifelong sailor having trained as Sea Cadet at Ampleforth College, when sailing from Quarr Abbey in the Isle of Wight. He bought his own yacht, a Westerly Konsort in 1990 and proudly sailed Crimond of Wight out of Shalfleet Creek for 25 years. He always supported RNLI and left a legacy on his passing. He sailed with his fellow dental students for many decades across the English Channel and along the English coast.

O'D retired as Senior Consultant in Maxillofacial Surgery at Guy's Hospital in 1999, after nearly fifty years of service. He made significant contributions to the Dental School and Hospital, by his clinical expertise and eminence but was an inspiration to generations of students, and specialty trainees. His crew and family both on land and sea miss him greatly. He was fondly remembered at a Memorial Service in Guy’s Chapel held most appropriately on St Patrick’s Day.
