Robin Ashwell
20 May 1949 - 7 August 2014

Robin grew up in and around Falmouth in Cornwall where the sea was part of his life. He played drums in the local band 'Summer Wine'

Robin was an engineer and worked all over the world for Sealand. During this time he was married to Dorcas and his daughter, Rowenna, was born. His placements included Mumbai, Dubai, USA and the Netherlands.

On returning to England Robin worked in the truck warranty industry in Yorkshire for the rest of his career. Here he met and married Ann. Five years ago Robin and Ann moved to France and have been living in the Deux Sevres region. Earlier this year they celebrated their twentieth wedding anniversary.

Robin has an accurate sailing model of a 19th century lifeboat. It is based on a full size original which now resides in the RNLI museum in Whitby. It is named after Thomas Langlands, a famous RNLI Coxswain. This working model was designed and built by Robin's grandfather who was a marine engineer.

Robin's mother, Ros, is a keen supporter of the RNLI and Robin has continued the tradition.
