Appreciation For Andy Viner By Ricky Barnett

I've just stumbled upon this memorial page for my mate Vin. It's great to read such heartfelt tributes to a friend I had since school. Andy was a great union man, but also a wonderful bloke to be around. Vin came all the way to Tokyo for my wedding, and as you'd expect, paid his respects at Hiroshima, far away by train. Shortly before his passing we'd been to Cyprus for a friend's wedding. He was in fine form, and put most of us to shame! I'm sure Andy's influence has had an effect on many people he knew and helped, but I just miss his as a mate to have a laugh and a beer with. Someone who you could share your deepest confidences with. If there is a hereafter, I'm sure you'll be up there at St Peter's gate, arguing the case for those that haven't got a ticket. I'm sure you'll also be grinning slightly at today's news. This time it's true! See you later mate. Love from Ricky.
