The RNLI saves lives at sea.

Appreciation For Andy Viner By Mike Beck

ASLEF lost a great champion when we lost Andy. The high esteem Andy was held in could be seen at his funeral when there was standing room only in the church and an overflow crowd outside. The funeral service had to be relayed by loudspeaker to people outside.
Andy impressed everyone who met him. He was an inspiration at the SERTUC committees on transport and also to those who met him at the Regional Council of SERTUC.
He had a good insight into people's problems and also had a keen sense of humour.
There were many outside of ASLEF, within the wider Trade Union movement who knew him as I found out when I reported on his death at Medway trades Council.
A remarkable man who will be missed and ASLEF will be the poorer for his loss.
To his family, I send my deepest sympathy.
