Appreciation For Michael Heath By Jessica Hart

Picture of 'Michael Heath' provided by Jessica Hart

I first met Mike when he started working at Systematic in 2002 as the company bean counter. We quickly became good friends and bonded over a shared sense of humour and a glass of schnapps at the Christmas party.

After returning from travelling overseas at the end of 2006 Mike kindly offered to let me stay with him for a couple of weeks until I found somewhere to live - 16 months later I was still living with him. During the 16 months we shared many good times and I have many fond memories of Mike.

Living with Mike was never dull and there was always much laughter particular over the scooter Mike found on one trip to Denmark and smuggled back to the UK in his suitcase and the many mishaps that could only happen to Mike like sneezing and pulling a neck muscle. I will always remember sharing a glass of wine and an Indian takeaway with Mike and our neighbour Julie on a Friday night after a stressful week at work.

When I decided to move to Australia in 2008 Mike was very supportive and during my first lonely months in Australia he provided much cheerful support and advice. I even managed to persuade Mike to forgo his usual sailing holiday and come out and visit me and I will always treasure the time we spent together in Sydney.

I can honestly say that I will never meet anyone like Mike again and I will never forget him.

Rest in Peace
