The RNLI saves lives at sea.

Appreciation For Rona Bowman By Sue Harvey (bartlett)

Rona was a Guide in the company that met underneath St Martin’s in the Fields when I first met her there in the 1960s. She later came to join us at SRS Drake - she was one of the relatively few ‘local’ members, many of us had found our way there from across the country or indeed across the world. I last saw her, after a gap of some 30 years or more, at a reunion weekend at Rose Cottage. It was as if the years in between had never been – she was still the same – enthusiastic, smiling and laughing – person I had known all those years before.

She had not wasted those years – so very many people owe their boating and sailing skills, and love of all things watery, to her. So many lives have been influenced by hers. The world has lost one of those people who light it up by just being there.
