The RNLI saves lives at sea.

Appreciation For Rona Bowman By Michael Nadin

There are some people who quietly and confidently are always there. Rona was one of those lovely people. I was always proud to say I knew Rona and to tell outrageous stories of her exploits in the sailing world. One of them was her ability to carry our trot dinghy single handed, when we moored our first yacht at Gosport, from the rack down the pontoon and launch it. I shall never forget her mischievous grin and sense of humour, her total comittment to whatever she was involved in (unless it was tidying up) and her love of all things nautical. The first female skipper of the Discovery Sailing Project and wern't we proud of her. I shall always remember Rona sailing a Drascombe Gig full of happy smiling young faces, the biggest smile of course was hers.
We shall miss you Rona, more than we can say.
God bless.
