Alan Reid

Alan was in the RAF for 22 years, and was demobbed in 1969. He served overseas in Aden at Steamer Point in 1965. We lived in St Athan in Wales during the late 50's early 60's and moved to Colchester and then back to Kent. Alan was born and raised in Kent by his mother and father and he has a sister Jean. Alan met his wife Joan Gore in Kent, and they duly married in October 1948. They had four children, Colyn, Bryan, Gillian and Laraine. Unfortunately Bryan was killed on a building site in St Athan when he was only 6 years of age, and I think both Alan and Joan struggled to cope with this loss. Us other three have since gone on to get married and have children who Alan and Joan idolised. There were also great grandchildren too. Alan unfortunately passed away in October 2010, and Joan could not cope without him and passed away in February 2012. There is a very large hole now in our lives without them and there is not a day goes by when we do not think of them. They were a very private couple and loved each other very much. They are missed hugely by their children and grandchildren.
