George Jack Victor Shea

Send to a Friend

George sadly passed away on Saturday 11 December 2010, at the age of 96. He served in the RAF for many years, and during the Second World War, was an ACI serving in Persia and Iraq.

George was born in Chelsea and as a child grew up in Clapham, South East London. He married, Edith Whiting and had three daughters, Maureen, Patricia and Teresa. After returning from the war, he went back to being an Electrical Engineer with the LEB and worked there for 45 years, until he retired early. In his later years, he travelled extensively through German, Switzerland, South of France, Antigue, and America. George loved learning about different parts of the world; their cultures and history and sharing this with his family members. George taught himself to speak German, Arabic and Polish and even in his later years of life, he tried to pracice his language skills.

Since George has died, we have discovered a poem he wrote whilst in Persia/Iraq and we intend to read this out as a tribute at his funeral on Wednesday 29 December 2010. George will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. Rest in peace XXXX
