Send to a Friend

Anne’s funeral took place at on Monday 21st was a glorious day without a cloud in the sky. The Church was full of her friends and family, the singing loud, the readings and testimonies were most fitting and to cap it all, it was the longest day and the start of Wimbledon. Anne was given a wonderful send off and I think she would have approved.

A Eulogy will be posted the mean time, the words below written by Anne and read out by Bess, her daughter in law seemed particularly apt and captured the spirit of the occasion.

I fell in love with a summer day,
When the sun was warm and the world was gay
with flowers and joy of a blackbird's song
and we could linger the whole day long
where the breeze was stirring the grass.
If only time could be made to stay
and hold that piece of a summer day
The hours we treasure so swiftly fly
Like fleeting clouds of a summer sky.
And so we too must pass.
