Albert Edward Brown, May 25, 1923 – September 19, 2008

Al served in the RAF Bomber Command in WWII and trained in Penhold, Alberta, Canada. “On leave” he traveled to California, USA with John Nix (Nicks?) to visit John’s Aunt, Mrs. Tyler. He spoke of being stationed in Gibraltar and South Africa. Al was proud of his numerous war medals and he wore them with enormous pride on Remembrance Day.

Post-war Al managed a traveling grocery store in Derby, England. On July 30th 1949 he married Barbara M. (Dyke) of Spondon. They later immigrated to western Canada in November 1955 with three young boys Peter, Andrew and Philip. After settling in their new county the birth of Carla-Marie and Dino completed their family.

Al managed various successful businesses while active in the Masons M.M, A.F & A.M (GRS), Chamber of Commerce, Dale Carnegie and Royal Canadian Legion (life membership). After retirement in 1988 from Weldwood of Canada where he was a purchasing agent he enjoyed vacationing to Hawaii and California in the winter.

Al kept up with current events avidly reading the daily newspaper and scrutinizing the news on television. He enjoyed watching hockey and was an enthusiastic armchair athlete. Story telling was a favorite pastime of Al’s and had an exceptional sense of humor.

He was proud of his British heritage and grew a legacy of 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He will be sadly missed however we will forever cherish our fond memories.
