Kenneth Renshaw, 1921 - 2010

Ken joined the RAF in 1941 and trained as an aero-fitter. After his training he was posted to various airfields in the UK and in 1943 he was sent to Alberta, Canada to serve with 36 SFTS RAF Penhold. Here British and Allied pilots were trained as part of the Empire Air Training scheme. He was later posted to India and was demobbed in June 1946.

He married Irene in 1945 and they spent 59 happy years together. They had two sons, Paul and Andrew.

They moved to Warrington in 1948 when Ken started working at the Peter Walker Brewery. After studying the theory of brewing at Manchester University, Ken became a shift brewer and then manager of the Bottling Stores. Later he became Brewhouse Manager and Quality Control Manager.

He was an active member of the Liberal Democrats for over 30 years, he was elected to Stockton Heath Parish Council in 1985 and served as Chairman. He was made a freeman of Stockton Heath in 2001 for services to the local community.

He also served as chairman of the Governors of Grappenhall Hall School.

Ken will be remembered by his family as a loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather.
