19 March 1926 - 10 September 2009. Brian joined the RAF in 1945 and trained to be a pilot, his first posting being on Mosquitoes at RAF Wittering. During his five-year flying career he flew 16 types of aircraft with his favourite aircraft being the Spitfire. His last flying tour was on Meteors at RAF Horsham St Faith before he transferred to the Equipment Branch (later to become the Supply Branch) in 1950. He retired from the RAF in 1977 as a group captain. Brian then worked as an accountant before setting up his own accountancy business which he successfully ran up to the month before his death at the age of 83 years. He married Brenda in 1951 and they had two children (Richard b.1952 and Chris b.1954) being together for over 57 years. Richard subsequently joined the RAF and completed a full career in the Supply Branch before also retiring as a group captain. Brian was a great lover of the mountains, being a founder member of RAFMA and the RAF Mountain Rescue Service. He also carried out a great deal of charitable and voluntary work over his lifetime and, following his long tenure as the chairman of the North West War Pensions Committee, he was appointed MBE in 1996.
