Send to a Friend

29th June 1924 to 30th March 2009.
Les first met his wife, Connie when they worked together at Budgens in Maidenhead. They used to go out in a big gang of friends from work and the RAF Association to dances where they enjoyed dancing to a variety of dance modes – their favourite being the foxtrot – of which they did a mean version! Connie & Les married on 23rd June 1951 and had two daughters, June & Carol. Les proudly served in the RAF at various locations including White Waltham Airport in Berkshire and in North Africa & Eygpt during the war and was a life member of the RAF Association. Les always had a love of mechanics which came from his time serving in the RAF, and also of wood and DIY. He would turn his hand to any job big or small, as long as it didn’t involve housework - especially washing up, cooking or gardening – apart from cutting things down! and he was always willing and able to help out anyone with a DIY or car problem. He was into recycling before it became fashionable – as anyone who has seen his shed can testify to, and would always find a use for any old bits of wood or rubbish. Right at the end he still insisted on sawing down the Holly tree in the garden and putting up a shelf in ‘His’ room.
He will be greatly missed by all of his family including his grandchildren, Fenella, Kim, James and Cameron and his great grandchildren Kya and Leilou as well as his son in laws Clive and Simon.
All our love.
