Appreciation For Anne Isobel Noel Penrose By Dominick Penrose

Annie's other endearing nickname coined by her father and shared with Bunny her sister was 'pink sugar pig', perhaps just as well that did not take precedence over 'Little Spitfire'. In 2000 Mirek Shelton a Polish Spitfire pilot and friend sent us 'Spitfire Postscript' an excellent book that deals with the trials and tribulations Sir Robert McLean had with officialdom and it is well worth reading. Mirek said "it is now fashionable to have a proper understanding of how our history was formed to make us proud of is not too late to bring to light various acts of peoples determination to aim for ideals of ultimate perfection which humanities real progress depends. In our confused world we badly need to have sound and famous heroes as examples to fashion ourselves on, with conviction that we are personally on the right road". He hoped that we would be successful in bringing Sir Robert and his daughter in to the public light and in to a rightful place in modern history. This we have surely done. It is never too late to put the record straight.
