Appreciation For Geoffrey Wiltshear By Ben Van Drogenbroek


Geoffrey Maurice Wiltshear was imprisoned at the East Compound of Stalag Luft 3, the German p.o.w. camp for captured airmen. At the East Compound, the famous "Wooden Horse" escape took place. (The Great Escape took place from the North Compound). When Stalag Luft 3 was evacuated because of the rapid advancing Russian Army, G.M. Wiltshear ended-up at Stalag IIIA "Lückenwalde" where he was liberated. G.M. Wiltshear's service number was 42779. His p.o.w. no. was 392.
