Flying Officer Leslie Ian COLLINS is one of the 371 British Servicemen who died on active service during the four-year Cyprus Emergency April 1 1955 to April 18 1959, and whose name is among those remembered with honour on the British Cyprus Memorial. Serving with 9 Squadron RAF Binbrook, he was one of the four-man crew killed on November 6 1956 when their Canberra WT371 crashed. Aged 24 from Ulverston, Lancashire, he is buried at Wayne’s Keep, the British military cemetery in Cyprus , Plot 23 Row C Grave 15 See also BANYARD, RHODES,SMITHERS

To mark the 50th anniversary of the ending of the four-year Cyprus Emergency in 1959 the British Cyprus Memorial Trust
will unveil a memorial in Kyrenia this Remembrance Day 2009
to the 371 British Servicemen who died during that campaign.
