Vic and I were friends at Sandhurst and were both commissioned in the Royal Engineers in Febuary 1953 in what was known as Willis's Batch. There were about 25 of us in the Batch and we have met up from time to time, but sadly Vic was never present. I suspect that this was because he was a "lost address".
I never met Vic again after we finished our initial officer training and have often wondered what became of him both in the Corps and subsequently. It was of course a shock to read of his death ... [read more from Mike Luetchford]
