The Corps of Royal Engineers

(1939 - 2011)

After a brief battle with lung cancer, Ray Schwalm passed away on Saturday 16th July 2011, at the age of 72. As a devoted husband and father to four children, Ray will be greatly missed. Although not a member of the Association, he recently made contact with some old comrades from Malaysia, Borneo and Christmas Island and met up with them in Doncaster a couple of years ago. Dad was very proud of his service with the Royal Engineers and the family were also very proud when Peter Mann of the Colchester branch represented the Corps as a Standard Bearer at Dad's funeral on Thursday 28th July. Many thanks to Peter and the Association, they enhanced a very sad but proud day for our family.
