A Tribute to David John Brooks
My dad was a typical army man, married to his career and never enjoyed life in the same way when he joined civvy street. He always threw himself whole-heartedly into each posting even when it meant up rooting the family once again (only an army child can understand what that is like). Chris Hardy writes [8th August 2011]:
David had a full and remarkable life.
Indeed, it is fair to reflect on his life in three parts.
Before, during, and after the Army. Since it was the Army that dominated David’s life. It is what defined him.
It’s difficult for any of us other than his siblings Eric, Alan and Doreen to imagine David before he was in the Army.
