My dad served with the 2nd field squadron, RE in 'West' Germany around 1960-61, apparently one of the last national servicemen. Friends were Arthur 'Phil Silvers' Chivers and Percival 'Legs' Diamond (?). Great stories from his time there. John Carolan writes [8th November 2010]:
