John 'Taff' Hamilton joined the Corps in 1963.
He served in Germany and UK with trips to Kenya and Cyprus thrown in for good measure.
He served 6 tours of Northern Ireland during the Troubles and completed a 2 year tour with 33 Indep Fd Sqn in Antrim as well.
At his happiest amongst friends, whether they were on the rugby pitch, in the Mess or just visiting he was one of lifes characters.
He retired from the Corps at the rank of WO2, in 1985, serving for a further 3 years with 75 Engr Regt (V) at Failsworth.
He died after a short fight with a virulent cancer where just weeks before he had been working.
He leaves behind his wife Carol, children David and Lise and grandsons Daniel and Matthew who all love him dearly.
