In 1947 the Indians threw us out so his family moved back to England.
He was not demobbed,but in 1947 to 1949 promoted to Major & Sent to Hamburg,Germany,as the B.A.O.R.3,[[war emergency commision],to defuse & remove British,American,& German,ordnance etc from the city.He was stationed in a concrete Flak tower,for several months,before returning to Britain where he was demobbed.He then went to work for Ministry of Defence.Working in Teddington,Portland,& lastly Fort Halsted.

This is a short history of my father's life.His great grandfather joined the Royal Engineers & was posted along with his wife,from Scotland to build a military railway in India from the Khyber Pass.
My father was born in India,[in the Indian Raj].After leaving school he automaticaly went into R.E. as a Officer Cadet at the R.E.
