The Corps of Royal Engineers

(1929 - 2010)

Also known as: Harry.

Picture of Henry Hoyle.

My father, Henry Hoyle, went to the Army Technical School, near Chepstow, 7 October 1943, aged 14. This was the beginning of 34 years in the army. He was in Burma 1951-52, in Tripoli and Malta in 1957 followed by various other tours. He spent over 10 years in Germany, (Osnabruck and Hameln), and then on to Belfast in 1972. His final posting was Dhekelia in Cyprus. He then left the army for 'civvy street' in 1977 working for Westminster City Council and Kent Association of Boys Clubs. He is survived by and was a much loved husband to Ella, father to Angela, granddad to Ciaran, Eamon and Darragh, brother to Audrey and a friend to many. He will be sorely missed.
