

1923649 Aged 91 A devoted and kindly husband, father and father-in-law. Sadly missed by his wife Joy, family and friends.

Leslie was one of four siblings, born in Sittingbourne, Kent on 25th January 1918. (He was always proud to share his birthday with the renowned Scottish bard, Robbie Burns). His father’s family came from Norfolk and were shipbuilders. His mother’s family came from Sittingbourne and were publicans and shop owners. In his youth Leslie was a good sportsman and when he joined the Royal Engineers in 1939 he soon proved his athletic skills by becoming an excellent shot. Military Dispersal Unit writes [14th July 2010]:
Testimonial: An excellent worker and a good tradesman and has given of his best no matter what type of work has been given to him. Intelligent, a good soldier, reliable and of clean and sober habits. Honest and trustworthy.
