Edward John Hoare or Granddad as i better knew him was a outstanding figure. Who after my father left stepped in and was the perfect role model for myself whilst i was growing up proud ,fair and loveing is how i would describe him i only let him down once and that was by joining the Royal Air Force though i am sure he was proud as punch on my passout day parade despite me being a blue job. The Taunton Branch REA reports with great sadness the passing of Ted Hoare on the 31st March 2010 at the age of 101. His family and many friends, including REA Branch Members and the REA Controller Lt Col (Retd) John McLennan gathered on the 16th April 2010 for his farewell.

The funeral was conducted in some style with the Taunton and Bridgwater Standards on parade. The Last Post was sounded and the coffin draped in RE Colours, wings was played as the coffin entered the Chapel. Many tributes ... [read more from The Taunton Branch Rea]
