23682360 Aged 64 John served in the Corps for 22 years and his first posting was Cyprus where we first met. Cyprus was to be the only place we were posted together as John was posted to Munster and the Willick before transferring to Postal. We remained very close friends through our service life and afterwards in civilian life. John could at times be blunt but was always honest. He died in 2002 from cancer after a short illness. Seven years on I still miss him as a friend. Joe Whiston
