I first met Dave on joining the Scarborough Branch of the Royal Engineers Association. At that time he was the Chairman. He would often recollect his fond memories of his service within the Corps, always with a glint in his eye and a smile. The thing that struck me about David was that despite his own medical problems he continued to put others before himself and lived by the REA motto “Service Not Self”.
