
Died after complications from heart surgery. Served in the Corps from 1964-1968 and again from 1971 -1983. Sadly missed by his wife and 3 sons whom have also served or are serving in the Corps. Former Life Member of the REA Glasgow and Headquarters Branches.

Alfie was my cousin. Even though I live four thousand miles away in Canada, I think of him with the deep regret that I didn't get to know him better. Most of what I know about Alfie, I learned from his sister, Maria, who visited and stayed with us several times.
Alfie looked after me when I was a fresh young sapper posted into 33 ind fld sqn in Northern ireland. I was on his shift when he was a corporal, on the regimental police staff gaurding the camp. I remember we all got into painting pictures on glass, and being short of a piece Alfie pinched the glass cooker door from the guard room. He was a great fella to work for, and took young ones like me under his wing.
I served with Alfie in Nienburg in the 70's and knew him well. He really was a smashing fella, full of fun and always had a cheeky smile on his face. A really nice guy. Cracking soldier though and always smart as a carrot. If you get to read this Isobel, both myself and Jill are really really sorry for your loss.
