I remember Hugh Richards very well, even after 58 years. I joined 36 Army Engineer Regiment in April 1953 at Ripon as a 24 year old deferred entry National Service 2nd Lt. R.E. Lt.Col Gavin was C.O. and Major Richards was my Squadron Commander then and I gained enormously from his command. We were on Coronation duty in London later that Spring, I remember.
