Appreciation For Those Commemorated By The RNLI Memorial By Tracey Saunders

I attended the Ceremony of Dedication for the RNLI memorial today and wanted to say how moved I was by the service.

It is a fitting tribute to all of the those who selflessly gave their lives. Having grown up in a lifeboat community and having my friends dads run off to launch when the maroons went off I regularly saw the fearless dedication these men and women give.

The reading of the stations that had lost a crew member by a representative of each division was a moving occasion, and Thomas Cocking, Coxswain St Ives, speech summed up what the memorial and RNLI is all about.

I think it is a testament to the quality of the boat design and build, and the training given that loosing a crew member is now, thankfully, a rare event.

Thank you, all.
