26.3.19- 23.5.1993
Jack joined the Fire service in 1947 after being in the Royal Air Force during the war years.

Married to Rita in July 1945 they had 3 children, Derek, Barbara and Anthony. He retired in June 1974 as a Sub- Officer at Peterlee. Jack worked at various Fire Stations in the Durham area throughout his long and distinguished career. Jack and Rita attended many Fire Service celebrations and fund raising nights over the years. Also, they always enjoyed welcoming past and serving fire service personnel into their home and chat over old times.

After retirement from the fire service he worked in a local care home as a handyman and was a good friend to many.

After a short illness, Jack died of cancer in May 1993 aged 74. Sadly missed by all the family, he was a lovely man.
