The Fire Fighters Charity

Also known as: Lew.

Picture of Alan Lewin.

My dad, Alan Lewin (Lew) passed away on the 10th November 2010, just two days before his 86th birthday. He joined the Essex County Fire Brigade in 1952, transferring later into the London Fire Brigade. He was based at Hornchurch Fire Station for many years, retiring in 1979. Following his retirement from the Fire Brigade he worked as a Court Attendant at the Old Bailey up until his second retirement at the age of 65. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Lewin, my brother John and myself. He will be missed by his family, grandchildren and friends. The picture shows him just after the war where he was based in Germany at the "Rundown Vehicle Park".

Grandad Alan was a lovely grandad. He was kind and funny, he made a good grandad and he made our lovely dad! We love and miss him, from Carys and Elwin xxx
