Kenneth Clifton Thorne was born in London on 14th July 1914 and passed away in Norfolk on 12th August 2010,

Ken joined the London Fire Brigade in 1934. He served all through the blitz at Lambeth Fire Station.

Mick, Ken's son remembers his dad appearing at Doothy Hall in Southwark for the Fire Brigade Christmas show. Ken delighted everyone with his take-off of Carman Miranda, complete with fruit.

Ken retired from active service in 1967, but continued to work in the workshops at Lambeth. Retiring to Norfolk in 1982 with his second wife, Joy.

Every 30 seconds in the UK, fire fighters are called to an incident, putting their lives on the line, and often sustaining physical injuries whilst carrying out their duties. The Fire Fighters Charity is here for fire fighters during their times of need, and assists thousands of individuals every year, by providing pioneering treatment and support services.
