Jillian Boswell was born 09/11/1942 at Durely to Norah & Bill Levy, the second eldest of four children. I met and married Jillian in 1963 whilst serving with the then Hampshire Fire Service, a true fire service wife she provided unstinting support to me throughout my career. She provided me with two sons, who followed me into the service, of which she was fiercely proud and as well as raising her family she found time to work to supplement the family income, often going without herself, to ensure that her sons were always well provided for. She also worked tirelessly at socials, jumble sales etc to raise funds for the fire services benevolent fund and later when I became secretary of the British fire services association (southern district) for the widows and orphans fund.
Having worked so hard all of her life she was denied a retirement having contracted a chronic lung disease, which rapidly incapacitated her and finally resulted in her death on the 23rd December 2009. Jillian now rests with her parents at St Peters Church Curdridge, where we were married. She is deeply missed but will be forever in our thoughts.

Jilly was my mother in law, and an inspiration as a fire fighters wife. Loyal, unswerving in her support and her belief in her family, and in the profession they had chosen. Sheila Boswell writes [11 July 2010]:
A little lady with a big heart, and truly missed.

Every year, thousands of fire fighters are injured whilst protecting the public. Every 30 seconds in the UK, fire fighters are called to an incident, putting their lives on the line, and often sustaining physical injuries whilst carrying out their duties. The Fire Fighters Charity is here for fire fighters during their times of need, and assists thousands of individuals every year, by providing pioneering treatment and support services.
